Corporal Alexander James Bremner. M.M. C.deG. died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis 27 February 1919 at Camiers, France. He was aged 31.
Alexander served in 8th (Service) Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders and his Regimental Number was S/40088. He received Military Medal (Gazetted 13 November 1918 ), Croix de Guerre (France), War Medal and Victory Medal.
Born in 1888 to parents John Bremner (1850-1919) and Margaret Gunn (1849-1923) of Golspie.
Before enlistment Alexander had worked as a Shepherd, at Gordonbush in Clyne, but his home was given as Blairmore, Rogart.
Alexander was buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, France and is memorialised on both the Clyne War Memorial, Brora and the Rogart War Memorial, Pittentrail. His name is also listed on the Clyne United Free Church War Memorial, Brora
and commemorated on the family headstone in Clyne New Burial Ground.
