Private John MacKay, died on 21 November 1918, aged 25.
Son of the late James Mackay (born in Rogart in 1866) and Jessie née Mackenzie, John was born at Muie, Rogart on 17 November 1893. His family subsequently moved to Kilmorack, Inverness where John was employed as a baker.
He served in the Army Service Corps (Mechanical Transport) and his regimental number was M2/047171. At the time of his death, from an unspecified disease, his mother and stepfather’s address was 19 Avon Street, Tradeston, Glasgow.
John is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, Pas de Calais, France, grave number XI. C. 41, where his name is recorded as McKay. His name is inscribed on Rogart War Memorial.
