On 1 October 1918, Private Donald John Reid died of wounds at No. 9 General Hospital, Rouen in France. He was 20 years of age.
The son of the late Alexander Reid (shepherd) and his wife Colina née McPherson of Skiag, Rogart, Donald was born at Morvich on 21 July 1898.
One of a number of men who had been a regular soldier, Donald served in the 1st Battalion, Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. His regimental number was 203904. He had formerly been in the Lovat Scouts (4201) and Machine Gun Corps (6737).
Donald was buried at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France – grave R IV C4, and is memorialised on the Rogart war memorial, along with his brother William.
